ILOILO – Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has infected an employee of the Assessor’s Office at the provincial capitol. The patient’s close contact, his son, was assigned at the Engineering Office’s Construction Division.
As a precautionary measure, the two offices were closed temporarily yesterday to allow thorough disinfection and contact tracing.
“Nagsarado kami subong nga adlaw tungod nga ipa-disinfect naton ang office. May isa kita ka empleyado nga ang iya nanay nga naga-obra sa Assesor’s Office nag-positive,” said Engineer Romeo Andig, acting department head of the Engineering Office.
Andig said the son and his other possible close contacts were subjected to swabbing on Wednesday afternoon.
While waiting for their results, Andig advised employees to stay at home to prevent the possible transmission of the disease.
“Isa lamang ka adlaw ang pagsirado sang duha ka offices. Mabukas man sa Thursday ang Assessor and Engineering offices,” Andig said.
The Provincial Health Office has yet to determine how and where the female employee contracted the disease.
As of Jan. 19, the province had a total 3,292 COVID-19 cases – 240 were tagged as active, 2,952 recovered and 100 died./PN
