Drinking spree leads to fatal stabbing

ILOILO City – What started as a drinking spree turned deadly between three friends in Barangay Pagsanga-an, Pavia, Iloilo.

Dominique Gumban of Cabugao Norte, Santa Barbara, Iloilo bore slit wounds on the neck and multiple stab wounds on the body and chest, a police report showed. 

Passersby discovered his lifeless body in the middle of the road yesterday around 5 a.m., the report added.

Tagged suspects were Rodnel John Dela Cruz, 18, and Romeo Celiz, 42 – both residents of Barangay Lanit, Jaro district.

Major Jojo Tabaloc, Pavia police chief, said the three were drinking alcoholic beverage Tuesday night in a piggery where they were working in Barangay Pagsanga-an.

According to Tabaloc, Dela Cruz and Celiz attacked Gumban during a heated argument.

The suspects initially denied their involvement but later admitted the crime. 

They were taken to the Pavia municipal police station for filing of appropriate charges./PN
