ILOILO City – Almost 5,000 healthcare workers in Western Visayas already received their second dose of the China-masde CoronaVac vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
As of April 9, a total of 4,883 out of 29,380 healthcare workers completed their immunization, according to Dr. Mary Jane Juanico, spokesperson of the Department of Health (DOH) in Region 6.
The first batch rollout of the second dose of COVID-19 vaccines started on April 5 and the second batch would be around last week of April.
Based on their monitoring, the spokesperson said there were no reported severe adverse reactions from those inoculated with either the CoronaVac or AstraZeneca vaccine.
“So far, ang mga reaction usually mga mild lang,” Juanico told Panay News.
There were 94,770 master-listed eligible healthcare workers for COVID-19 vaccination in the region, DOH-6 data showed.
Earlier, the regional health office reiterated it was following the prioritization framework in identifying who receives COVID-19 vaccines first considering the dearth in supply.
First priority for vaccination include healthcare workers in COVID-19 referral hospitals; public and private infirmaries providing COVID-19 care; isolation and quarantine facilities that cater to COVID-19 suspects, probable, and confirmed cases, close contacts, and travelers in quarantine; and remaining hospitals including facilities of uniformed services not catering to COVID-19 cases.
The next in line are senior citizens, people with co-morbidities, frontline personnel in essential sector, and the remaining indigent population./PN
