JORDAN, Guimaras – One hundred fifty-one frontliners here have so far received their first doses of the vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
According to the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Jordan, 18 were inoculated with the vaccine made by AstraZeneca while the 133 others received CoronaVac vaccine from China’s Sinovac Biotech.
RHU chief Dr. Robel Gencianeo said the 151 frontliners were personnel from his unit, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, contact tracers, screeners, Department of Education, funeral homes, Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams, clinics, and pharmacies.
Eight of Jordan’s 14 barangay captains were also vaccinated. They were from the villages of Rizal, Poblacion, San Miguel, Alaguisoc, Balcon Maravilla, Sinapsapan, Lawi, and Buluangan.
Those vaccinated did not experience adverse side effects, said Gencianeo.
The RHU has a continuing information campaign on COVID-19 vaccination in all barangays in the hope of convincing residents to have themselves inoculated./PN
