BUGASONG, Antique – So far, 305 residents here have received their first dose of the vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
According to the Rural Health Unit (RHU), these residents were healthcare workers, frontliners, senior citizens and persons with comorbidities particular between 18 to 59 years old (like those with hypertension, diabetes, cancer, asthma, heart and lung diseases).
The healthcare workers included the staff of the RHU and medical workers in government and private health facilities.
On the other hand, the frontliners included Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs), Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office staff and barangay volunteers workers.
The vaccine used was made by China-based Sinovac Biotech.
The vaccination site was the spacious municipal covered gym where physical distancing was not a problem.
Those vaccinated were also wearing facemask and face shield.
The RHU expressed confidence that in the coming days more people of Bugasong would have themselves vaccinated.
