ILOILO City – In one week of operations, policemen in Western Visayas arrested 199 wanted persons and 161 illegal gamblers.
Between Oct. 18 and Oct. 24, a total of 187 operations against persons with pending warrants of arrest were carried out. Twenty-nine belonged to the top 10 “most wanted” individuals.
Meanwhile, 51 operations were conducted against all forms of illegal gambling, resulting in the recovery of P41,565 bet money.
Thirty-three anti-drug operations led to the arrest of 45 individuals. A total of 306 grams of suspected shabu worth P2 million were recovered.
For the aforementioned campaigns, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO), Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) and the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) had the highest accomplishments.
“These achievements were manifestations of the PNP’s (Philippine National Police) serious campaign against all forms of illegal activities in Western Visayas,” said Police General Rolando Miranda, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
“These efforts will not stop here. We will sustain the operations,” Miranda said.
