House OKs bill seeking Negros hospital upgrade

BACOLOD City – A bill seeking to upgrade the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TLJPH) in Silay City, Negros Occidental has been approved on third and final reading in the House of Representatives.

House Bill No. 10463 aims to improve TLJPH’s bed capacity, facilities and healthcare services, according to 3rd District’s Cong. Jose Francisco Benitez, author.  

The measure specifies that the authorized bed capacity of the TLJPH shall be increased from 100 beds to 300, and any future increase in bed capacity shall be consistent with the hospital development plan that will be prepared by the TLJPH hospital chief and submitted to the Department of Health.

The provincial government, meanwhile, shall provide the necessary funds for maintenance and other operating expenses and appropriate funds for an additional human resource.

The construction of the P100-million TLJPH’s Center for Emerging and Re-emerging Diseases worth is ongoing./PN
