KALIBO, Aklan – In Aklan, the booster vaccination rate is around 2.19 percent. Only 8,172 people have gotten their coronavirus booster shots, according to a report of the Regional Vaccination Operations Center.
The figure includes 4,731 health care workers and front liners, about 1,595 senior citizens, and 1,208 elderly people with co-morbidities already received their boosters as of February 21, 2022.
Vaccination records also show 579 essential front liners and 59 individuals in priority eligible A5 or poor population got their additional dose.
Health authorities reopened vaccination centers in Aklan to speed up giving booster shots. They are offered three months after receiving their previous injections.
As of February 21, Aklan had administered Covid vaccines to 73.53 percent of its eligible population or 362,357 while 5.57 percent was partially vaccinated and 20.89 percent of the population was unvaccinated.
By comparison, roughly 25 percent of the Western Visayas adult population has yet to receive a shot of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Fully vaccinated health care workers and expanded A1 priority list in Aklan now stand at 19,625, while 44,853 senior citizens and 40,091 adults with co-morbidities already received their two doses.
About 75,642 economic front liners and 105,306 indigent population have been fully vaccinated against coronavirus.
Only 735 individuals, aged 5 to 11 years old, also received their first dose in the province of Aklan./PN
