ILOILO City – A traditional public utility jeepney caught fire at the garage of the Iloilo City Alliance of Operators and Drivers’ Transport Cooperative (ICAODTC) around 9:30 a.m. yesterday in Barangay Sambag, Jaro district.
The fire spread to a modern jeepney parked in the garage.
The traditional public utility jeepney got totally burned while the modern jeepney had partial damage.
According to Romeo Portigo, the person tasked to maintain the garage, “Gindala lang na diri ang modernized jeep kay diri ang scheduled maintenance. Wala gid kami ya maghuna-huna nga masunog.”
The damage caused by the fire reached P450,000 pesos and the Bureau of Fire Protection or BFP is still investigating the said incident./PN
