NegOcc guv hopes CPP’s next leader not a ‘hardliner’

BY DOMINIQUE GABRIEL G. BAÑAGA

BACOLOD City – Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson is hoping that the next leader of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) following the passing of their founder and leader Jose Ma. “Joma” Sison won’t be a hardliner.

According to Lacson, Sison’s successor should be more serious in pursuing peace with the government and reject armed struggle as the only option to effect positive change.

The governor also expressed hope that Sison’s passing would be a signal for communist rebels to end their armed revolution.

The governor expects the CPP to announce its new leader in the coming days./PN
