ILOILO City – The Roxas Family, through the Gerry Roxas Foundation (GRF), donated a Vela Ventilator to the provincial government of Capiz.

The donation of the life-saving equipment was in commemoration of the 75th death anniversary of President Manuel A. Roxas on April 15.

Republic Act No. 9217 declared April 15 of every year as President Manuel A. Roxas Memorial Day and assigned the nearest Friday to it as a Special Non-Working Holiday.

Roxas, a native of Capiz, also served as the province’s first congressional district representative and senator.

The turnover was headed by his grandson, former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas, and great-grandson, Paolo Gerardo Roxas.

According to the former secretary, their family sees the importance of the medical equipment for patients who are in critical condition. The donation is one of their ways to show their care for their fellow Capisnons, he added.

Meanwhile, as part of the commemoration of his life and triumphs as the first president of the Independent Philippine Republic, a legacy exhibit was held at the Panublion Museum.

The activity is also in line with the celebration of Capiztahan 2023.

Among the memorabilia of the late President on display are his clothes worn during his presidency, commemorative coins, presidential campaign pins, and official programs, among others./PN
