ILOILO – Suspected shabu and a homemade firearm with ammunition were recovered from an alleged drug supplier in the province’s 3rd District.

Suspect Peter Villajardo Escanda, 39, of Barangay Tambal, Bingawan town, and a habal-habal driver was arrested in the town’s Barangay Tapacon around 2:40 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9.

Suspected shabu weighing more or less eight grams and valued at P54,400 was seized.

A homemade .9mm revolver and five pieces of ammunition were also recovered.

The operation was conducted by the Bingawan Municipal Police Station (MPS)-Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) led by Police Lieutenant Ryan Christ Inot, together with the Iloilo Provincial Police Office-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit led by Major Harold Rendora and the Coast Guard Intelligence Group-Western Visayas led by Senior Chief Petty Officer Cleff Suelo.

Escanda was taken to the Bingawan police station. He would be charged with violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and of RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act of 2013./PN
