ILOILO City – A construction worker was beaten by a group of men in a sari-sari store in Barangay Hibao-an Norte, Mandurriao district around 1 a.m. yesterday.
Victim Rene Salem, 52, of the said barangay, died. His companion, Anthony Bolontate, 28, of Barangay San Jose, San Miguel, Iloilo was able to escape.
The two were about to go home when they stopped by a store where the five men were hanging out to buy cigarettes, according to Police Lieutenant Joebert Amado, deputy station commander of the Mandurriao police station, in an interview with DYRI RMN Iloilo.
An altercation may have occurred between the victims and the suspects, added Amado.
“Naga-conduct pa gid kita gihapon sang hot pursuit kag follow-up investigation sa lima ka mga persona kay may mga CCTV [closed-circuit television] dira sa area…sa opisina didto may ara CCTV along the road kun diin nasapwan ining si Salem nga unconcious…isa gid to ka dako nga bagay nga makakuha kita sang identity sang suspects,” said Amado./PN
