Region’s fugitives nabbed

ILOILO City – Two of the most wanted persons in the region were arrested on Wednesday, May 10.

Kevin John Larez Asis, 23, a salesman and native of Barangay Magdungao, Passi City, was arrested at 8:40 a.m. in Bulacan, where he temporarily resides.

Asis was the No. 9 wanted person in Western Visayas, No. 8 in Iloilo province and No. 1 in Passi City.

He was served with an arrest warrant for three counts of rape issued by Judge Elijo Sharon Ronzales Herrera-Bellones of Regional Trial Court (RTC)-Branch 27 in Iloilo City.

No bail was recommended for Asis’ temporary liberty.

Meanwhile, Romel Merioles, 43, of Purok Bagasohan, Barangay Ma-ao, Bago City, Negros Occidental was arrested at 5 p.m. for murder.

Merioles was the No. 1 wanted man in Western Visayas.

The arrest warrant issued by Judge Mary Jennifer Protacio-Arches of RTC 6-Branch 62 in Bago City recommended no bail bond for his temporary release.

Merioles is under the custody of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Negros Provincial Field Unit.

Meanwhile, officer-in-charge director of the Police Regional Office 6, Brigadier General Archival Macala congratulated his men for a job well done.
