ILOILO City – A man was found dead in a lodging house in La Paz district yesterday morning, Aug. 31.
The man was identified as 34-year-old Stephen Carlo Gonzalez Juanito, married with two children and a resident of Lessandra Subdivision, Barangay Jibao-an, Pavia, Iloilo.
Authorities believed he committed suicide.
In a Panay News interview with alias “Elmar,” a room boy at the lodge, Juanito checked in alone Wednesday morning.
“Mga 10:51 sang aga [of Sept. 30] sa amon record siya nag check-in kag siya lang isa. Laba siya buhok kag medyo mailum-ilumon nga tawo kag mabukod ang lawas,” said Elmar.
Since Juanito did not leave his room for almost 21 hours, the management decided to check on him.
“Mga 8 a.m. na siguro nasapwan kay gin pakatok bala sang counter kay wala siya nga daan order tapos 21 hours na siya. Gin-open man namon sang upod ko ang first door nakita namon ang beddings nga gin ipit sa pwertahan. Wala namon ginsulod bali gin patawgan pulis para sila ang mauna,” Elmar added.
A paper with the inscription “PLEASE CALL MY WIFE” and two sets of mobile numbers was found on the bed, according to Staff Sergeant Theodore Soleno of La Paz police.
“Gin-contact ta kag ang mga kagamitan niya ara to angay sang bag, cellphone, powerbank, wala ta gintandog kag gintawgan SOCO [Scene of the Crime Operatives] para ma plastar kung ano gid natabo,” said Soleno.
Juanito’s wife, father and two brothers proceeded to the establishment.
Initial investigation showed no indications of foul play.
The family decided not to subject the body to an autopsy./PN
