Lodge yields dead man

ILOILO City – A man was found dead in a lodging house in La Paz district yesterday morning, Aug. 31.

The man was identified as 34-year-old Stephen Carlo Gonzalez Juanito, married with two children and a resident of Lessandra Subdivision, Barangay Jibao-an, Pavia, Iloilo.

Authorities believed he committed suicide.

In a Panay News interview with alias “Elmar,” a room boy at the lodge, Juanito checked in alone Wednesday morning.

Since Juanito did not leave his room for almost 21 hours, the management decided to check on him.

“Mga 8 a.m. na siguro nasapwan kay gin pakatok bala sang counter kay wala siya nga daan order tapos 21 hours na siya. Gin-open man namon sang upod ko ang first door nakita namon ang beddings nga gin ipit sa pwertahan. Wala namon ginsulod bali gin patawgan pulis para sila ang mauna,” Elmar added.

A paper with the inscription “PLEASE CALL MY WIFE” and two sets of mobile numbers was found on the bed, according to Staff Sergeant Theodore Soleno of La Paz police.

Juanito’s wife, father and two brothers proceeded to the establishment.

Initial investigation showed no indications of foul play.

The family decided not to subject the body to an autopsy./PN
