BACOLOD City – The Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) is short of traffic enforcers to man the major streets of this city.
Jose Antonio Robello, deputy officer-in-charge of BTAO, confirmed this after the absence of traffic enforcers was observed despite the traffic congestion along the Lizares-Araneta streets.
The BTAO official admitted that due to the current lack of personnel, some streets have no deployment. An enforcer is sent if they are informed of a need in a particular area.
“Right now, nahimo ko is gina-roving ko na sila,” Robello explained.
As of this writing, BTAO has 300 personnel. Of which 200 are traffic enforcers, divided between morning and afternoon shifts.
“Ini nga staffing ginsalo lang ni namun, kag damu kita variables. May truck ban personnel, strikers, traffic enforcers, engineering, and administration,” he further said.
When asked how many enforcers are needed, Robello said, “I cannot give you an accurate number,”
A request for additional traffic enforcers has already been made, although Robello said he has to make sure that the current personnel are maximized first.
“Mahuya ko kay Mayor Albee (Alfredo Abelardo Benitez) kon ang 200 enforcers naga obra gid ina. I am not saying nga wala sila naga obra, pero I just need to verify kay amon na responsibilidad to make sure nga naga obra sila.”/PN
