ASMGH on allegations: ‘There was no mistake in patient’s medication’

ANTIQUE – Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital (ASMGH) in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique maintained that there was no mistake in the medication administered to a patient who was brought and admitted to their health facility.

ASMGH issued an official statement on Saturday, March 2, following the viral post of Gorabells Vlog calling out the services of ASMGH.

“Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital San Jose Antique ayusin nyo siyestema ng pasyente nyo alamin nyo muna kung kaninong gamot na ituturok nyo sa pasyenete wag basta-basta,” Gorabells Vlog wrote in a post that garnered various comments from the netizens.

On its part, ASMGH responded to the alleged medication error committed by the hospital’s staff nurse.

The video posted by online account was taken when the patient was brought to the Emergency Room of the ASMGH and, according to the hospital, “shows how serious the case was at the time of admission.”

ASMGH clarified: “There was no mistake as to the medication given to the patient. The medication given to the patient was ordered by the attending physician based on the prescribed clinical practice guidelines, and it was also properly carried out by the on-duty nurse,”

The hospital further explained that the condition of the patient improved during her admission at ASMGH, and she was discharged at 8:26 p.m. on February 28.

The improvement of the patient was also noted during her follow-up check-up in the Out-Patient Department of the hospital on March 1, and she was advised to continue taking her medications at home.

“We would like to remind the public to be responsible when using social media, to refrain from making baseless posts and comments, and to know the truth before throwing allegations,” ASGMH reminded with the assurance that all hospital staff and personnel are doing their best and exerting their best efforts to attend to their patients’ needs.

On Sunday, March 3, the ASMGH management, headed by Dr. Francisco Aquines, Chief Nurse Czerwin S. Juales, and attending physician Dr. Rosevale B. Valerta, met with the patient and her partner (the owner of the online account) to discuss and clarify the issue.

At the end of the meeting, the patient and her folks expressed their gratitude for the efforts extended by the ASMGH management to settle and clarify the existing concerns./PN
