SOUTH Korean heartthrob Kim Soo-hyun, who recently starred in the hit romance series “Queen of Tears,” is set to return to Manila in June, the event’s organizer announced yesterday.
On its social media pages, local promoter Wilbros Live said the 36-year-old actor would mount the Manila leg of his “Eyes on You” Asian tour at the Araneta Coliseum on June 29.
Tickets will go on sale beginning May 18 through Ticketnet’s website and outlets, Wilbros said, though it had yet to publish the prices.
Soo-hyun previously visited Manila in January 2023 for a fan meeting that was organized by a donut company that he endorses.
Soo-hyun is known for starring in a number of hit K-dramas such as “Dream High,” “My Love from the Star,” “The Producers” and “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay.”
His most recent series was the popular romantic comedy “Queen of Tears,” about a conglomerate heiress who marries a farmer’s son-turned-lawyer.
The success of “Queen of Tears” is undeniable as its last episode overtook the finale of “Crash Landing on You,” making it the highest-rated episode on the Korean network tvN.
The finale garnered 24.850%, surpassing the previous record of 21.683% set by the last episode of “Crash Landing on You” in February 2020. Both series aired on tvN, the biggest cable network in Korea, and an international streaming platform.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, May 7, Soo-hyun received the PRIZM Popularity Award at the prestigious Baeksang Arts Awards, which honors excellence in Korean film, television and theater. (ABS-CBN News/with a report from the Philippine Daily Inquirer)
