ILOILO – Western Visayas police director, Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, during a recent press conference, highlighted the efforts of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and local law enforcement to tackle illegal gambling in Iloilo province through the introduction of a new Small Town Lottery (STL) agent.
Wanky addressed the persistent problem on illegal, guerilla-type gambling operations in the region, noting that the new STL franchise for Iloilo province granted by PCSO is expected to help eradicate these unlawful activities.
The Eagle Roar Gaming Corporation, as the Authorized Agent Corporation of PCSO, has formally coordinated with the regional police to ensure the legal operation of the lottery.
Wanky also reported on his recent discussions with PCSO General Manager Mel Robles in Kalibo, Aklan, affirming the commitment of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) to support the authorized STL operations in the province.
“Our campaign against illegal gambling continues robustly,” Wanky said.
He detailed the police’s recent efforts, which from July 1 to 27, involved 106 operations that led to the arrest of 317 individuals and the recovery of bet money totaling P73,000./PN
