Iloilo City cops undergo surprise drug test

ILOILO City – To ensure integrity and trust within the ranks, 78 members of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) were subjected to an unexpected drug test on August 29.

The group tested included 11 Police Commissioned Officers (PCOs) and 67 Police Non-commissioned Officers (PNCOs), all part of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) and the Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET).

Colonel Kim Legada, the ICPO director, emphasized that the surprise drug tests are a key part of maintaining a drug-free environment within the force, as well as assessing the ongoing integrity and reputation of its members.

“The ICPO is committed to upholding the highest standards of conduct among our officers and personnel. These mandatory drug tests are essential to our efforts to ensure that every member of the police force is fit for duty and free from the influence of illegal substances,” said Legada.

This initiative is in line with the ICPO’s broader commitment to the campaign against illegal drugs, which targets not only the community at large but also its own law enforcement personnel, he explained.

Legada also warned that more surprise tests are planned, with any officer testing positive facing administrative sanctions./PN
