Bacolod village is WV’s nominee for national LTIA

BACOLOD City – This city’s barangay Singcang-Airport is Western Visayas contender for the national 2024 Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA) for highly urbanized city (HUC) category.

Christian Nagaynay, officer-in-charge of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Bacolod City, said they endorsed the said barangay as entry to the national validation representing Region 6.

Barangay Singcang-Airport was adjudged as the 2024 LTIA regional winner for the HUC category in the region on May 15, 2024. It received a P50,000 cash prize.

Barangay Captain Caesar Distrito of Singcang-Airport expressed elation over the regional award.

“We are already happy to be the champion in the LTIA among the 61 barangays of this city, and now being the regional champion is I think an overwhelming achievement,” he said.

Distrito added that they hope to win the national award: “This will be a proud moment for Bacolod City, but being a national finalist is already a feat to be proud of.”

At present, Barangay Singcang-Airport is waiting for the result if it could make it to the shortlist of the national finalists.

The LTIA started in 1982 and was elevated to a Presidential Award by Executive Order (EO) 394, entitled “establishing the LTIA” in 1997. This recognition program honors outstanding barangay justice councils for their effective resolution of disputes at the grassroots level.

It also aims to promote the Barangay Justice System by incentivizing barangays that demonstrate exemplary performance in settling conflicts through mediation and conciliation./PN
