BACOLOD City – Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez has ordered to stop the operations of perya games inside the Bacolod City Public Plaza.

Peryahan began its operation at the plaza following the official start of the MassKara Festival 2024 on October 12, but according to Councilor Jason Villarosa, chairman of the City Council committee on tourism, they have not issued any permit to operate to the operator of perya games therein.

He said the Council had only approved the operation of carnival, where perya games are also included, during the duration of the MassKara Festival from October 11 to October 27, in two sites – Bacolod City Government Center and Reclamation Area.

City Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting Jr. also said that the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation Inc. has not allowed giving permit to perya operator at the plaza after the organizer of the MassKara Festival failed to seek permission from the City Council.

As of yesterday, October 15, Ting said the operator pulled out their peryahan structures at the plaza after the BYFI informed them regarding the issue on permit to operate./PN
