
ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO) 6 confiscated P22 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 107 suspects during a series of anti-illegal drug operations across the region over the past week.
Data from the PRO-6 showed that the coordinated law enforcement activities from October 7 to October 13 resulted in the seizure of 3,234 grams of shabu and 10 grams of marijuana.
Of the 107 arrested, 22 were classified as high-value individuals and 85 were street-level targets.
PRO-6 director Brigadier General Jack Wanky said Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (PPO) has the highest number of arrest at 40, or 37.3 percent of the total arrested suspects.
Other units’ number of arrested drug suspects are the following:
* Aklan PPO – three
* Antique PPO – three
* Capiz PPO – four
* Guimaras PPO – one
* Iloilo PPO – 19
* Bacolod City Police Office – 16
* Iloilo City Police Office – 21
The ICPO, meanwhile, recorded the biggest haul of illegal drugs amounting to P9,560,000, followed by BCPO with P6,441,000 worth of illegal drugs seized.
Wanky extended anew his gratitude to all police personnel and stakeholders for their untiring effort and steadfast commitment in the fight against illegal drugs.
“Along with the people of this region and other law enforcement agencies, rest assured that your Philippine National Police in Western Visayas will continue and intensify its operations to put behind bars those found engaging in illegal drug activity,” he said.
All suspects are now under police custody and charged with violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
