ILOILO City – A fire broke out in Zone 3, Barangay Boulevard, Molo district in this city at approximately 11:57 p.m. on Monday, October 28, torching six houses.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) – Iloilo City, the fire reached second alarm at around 12:02 a.m. A “fire out” was declared 1:05 a.m. yesterday, October 29.
Fire brought over P600,000 worth of damage and two persons were injured, the BFP-Iloilo City added.
In an interview with Ronjel Josal, he said the fire originated at the second-floor room of the house of his brother-in-law, Ruchie Nopueto, and they were shocked at how quickly the flames spread.
Josal added that Nopueto had returned to the room to rescue his two-year-old daughter, who sustained burns on her left arm. Nopueto also suffered burns on his right arm and leg. They were both brought to the hospital for treatment.
Josal suspected faulty electrical wiring or appliances in Nopueto’s room may have ignited the fire.
As of this writing, fire officers were still investigating to determine the cause of the blaze./PN
