ANTIQUE – The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) Antique provincial office will double its effort in campaigning for more Antiqueños to have their first patient encounter with the Konsulta package providers (KPPs).
PhilHealth Antique provincial head Junie Sabusap said they will conduct more caravans in the municipalities to register more members and for registered members to have their first patient encounter.
“We will be coordinating with the doctors and nurses of our accredited KPPs so that the registered members can already have their first patient encounter,” he said.
PhilHealth Regional Office Public Affairs Unit head Janimhe Jalbuna said Antique has 312,611 registered members, but only 44,090 had their first patient encounter as of October 31, 2024.
The first patient encounter is important so KPPs get the baseline data on their health status.
The KPP, the PhilHealth flagship program, aims to prevent the members and their beneficiaries from being sick or suffering from low-risk diseases such as pneumonia because they can already avail of free consultation, medicines, and laboratory tests.
Jalbuna said all the 18 municipal health offices and 10 government hospitals in the province are accredited KPP providers.
“The health-seeking behavior of the people could also be the factor why there are only a few who have already had their first patient encounter,” she said.
Jalbuna also asked the media to help disseminate the importance of finding time for their first patient encounter.
PhilHealth had already paid claims amounting to P33 million on the KPPs in Antique for their services and dispensed medicines. (PNA)
