ILOILO City – A female commercial sex worker struck a man with a wooden plank after he reportedly insulted and physically assaulted the former.
Police Lieutenant Ronelo Tabuyoc, officer-in-charge of the Iloilo City Police Station 1 (ICPS 1), said a group of intoxicated men, including siblings aliases “Archie” and “Darwin,” along with their friend alias “Noel”, were on Ledesma Street, City Proper district, when the incident happened early yesterday morning.
“Nagkaproblema sila sa presyo kag ginpahog ni Archie si alias ‘Ella’. Ginpakahuy-an pa nga panubuan lang siya kay indi man gwapa,” Tabuyoc stated, referring to how Archie allegedly haggled aggressively and insulted the sex worker’s appearance.
The dispute escalated when Archie reportedly punched Ella in the stomach and neck. Refusing to be a victim, Ella grabbed a wooden plank and struck him in the head. A concerned citizen stepped in to stop the fight before authorities arrived.
By the time police responded, the three men had fled. Darwin later surfaced and claimed his brother Archie had jumped into the river near Drilon Bridge while escaping. However, police later received information that Archie returned to his boardinghouse and resumed drinking.
Tabuyoc said they were still verifying the claims as of this writing, while Ella has yet to decide whether to press charges./PN
