CAPIZ – A fire broke out at Arches 2 Subdivision, Barangay Baybay, Roxas City, damaging one home, around 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 8.

According to the owner of the house, Fely Arpas, 80, the fire started in their kitchen.

However, in an interview, the owner’s son denied that they were cooking in that kitchen.

Fire Officer III Junrey Luching of the Roxas City Fire Station said that the fire spread quickly because the house was made of mixed materials.

Members of the Roxas City Fire Station and Capiz Citizens Action Group Inc. responded to the scene and declared fire out at around 8 pm. Damage was pegged at P600,000.

The Roxas City Fire Station said the fire was possibly caused by a faulty electrical wiring.

Fire authorities reminded the public anew to be vigilant against fire and enforce fire safety./PN
