IT WAS a seven-year journey for “Only We Know,” an upcoming film starring Dingdong Dantes and Charo Santos-Concio, before it will hit theaters, according to its writer and director Irene Villamor.
The upcoming film is about the May-December love affair between a 60-year-old woman named Betty (Santos-Concio) and Ryan (Dantes).
“It was pitched to Ma’am Charo and Dingdong pre-pandemic. There were a lot of revisions, we tried to still make it and scale down its details. After the pandemic, a lot of things happened in their lives and their schedules. The filming was finished last year,” Villamor said during the film’s poster reveal event.
While Villamor — who is known for helming “Meet Me in St. Gallen,” “Five Breakups and a Romance,” “Ulan,” and “On Vodka, Beers, and Regrets” — declined to reveal any more details about the film, except that “Only We Know” is a love story that “breaks boundaries.”
“It’s a story about love. I always do love stories but this shows a different kind of love. It is about breaking boundaries),” she said.
Villamor also touched on her working relationship with Dantes and Santos-Concio, saying that despite working with the Kapuso actor in the past, he still managed to surprise her.
However, it was Santos-Concio whom the filmmaker had to build a relationship with, saying she was initially intimidated by the former ABS-CBN CEO.
The film will premiere in theaters in the country on June 11. (Hannah Mallorca © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
