MICHELLE Dee rushed to get medical help after her pet dog bit her in the face and left a torn wound on her cheek.

The actress-beauty queen showed her face with patches on her cheek and chin, through her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, June 3.

“My unexpected Tuesday plot twist,” she captioned her post. “Sa mukha ko pa talaga.” (It even had to be on my face.)

In a succeeding post, Dee showed herself at the clinic of celebrity doctors Vicki Belo and Hayden Kho. The Miss Universe Philippines 2023 also gave a closer look at the wound on her face.

“No matter how much we love your furbabies, never underestimate dog bites!” she reminded her followers. “Act quick.”

Belo, who came to Dee’s rescue, wrote in a separate post, “We got you, Michelle!”

“Everything for our fur babies,” she added, along with a grinning face with sweat emoji.

Just last February, another celebrity fur parent, actress Alma Concepcion, shared that she and her son were bitten by their pet dog.

The actress regarded the incident as a learning experience for her and her family, saying that while their dog is kind, they would refrain from cuddling him as it might prompt another biting incident.

“I’m sad about this change. But over-all he is kind. He’s potty trained and with the looks of it, he is very sorry,” Concepcion said.

In 2024, the Department of Health reported a total of 426 rabies-related deaths and emphasized the need for pet vaccinations and increased rabies awareness.

While rabies infection is 100% deadly, it’s also 100% preventable by getting pre- or post-exposure prophylaxis for rabies.

If you are bitten or scratched by an animal, wash the wound first with soap and running water before heading to the nearest health center or animal bite treatment center. (Anne Pasajol © Philippine Daily Inquirer/GMA Integrated News)
