Bus involved in two-tricycle collision in Antique

ANTIQUE – A Ceres bus was involved in a two-tricycle collision that injured five people in Barangay Caridad, Culasi, Antique, at around 9:20 a.m. on July 10.

According to Police Lieutenant Evie Baclay, Deputy Chief of the Culasi Municipal Police Station, the bus was heading south and trailing a private tricycle when the latter reportedly came to an abrupt stop. Despite the bus driver’s attempt to brake, the bus crashed into the rear of the tricycle.

Due to the impact, the tricycle swerved into the opposite lane and collided with a northbound tricycle carrying passengers, resulting in a second collision.

The two tricycle drivers and three passengers sustained minor injuries, including bumps and bruises, and were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. No fatalities were reported, and all passengers aboard the bus were unharmed.

The bus company has committed to shoulder all damages and hospital expenses incurred by those involved.

As of this writing, the Ceres bus driver was in police custody while discussions on a possible settlement were ongoing./PN
