BACOLOD City – A 50-year-old farmer was stabbed and killed by his 30-year-old brother in Purok Pakighi-usa, Barangay Pinowayan, Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental over the weekend.
Alias “Edgar” allegedly attacked his older brother, alias “Arnel”, following a drinking session on Saturday night, July 12. The latter succumbed to multiple stab wounds, according to Police Chief Master Sergeant Ronald Retiban of the Don Salvador Benedicto Municipal Police Station.
Initial investigation showed that Arnel and Edgar together with their another sibling, alias “Ernesto”, were having a drinking spree in the town’s poblacion, but the eldest Ernesto decided to head home first. He later turned back after hearing a commotion and saw Edgar attacking Arnel with a bladed weapon.
Police said Ernesto sought help, but Arnel was already lifeless when he returned.
The suspect voluntarily surrendered to the authorities and expressed remorse for his actions. Retiban said Edgar claimed he was harboring resentment toward Arnel, who had allegedly physically punished him in the past — a motive he admitted prompted the fatal stabbing.
