
ILOILO – Authorities arrested one of Western Visayas’ most wanted communist terrorist group (CTG) members during an operation on June 11 in Barangay Dawog, Miag-ao town.
The 66-year-old suspect, known by the alias “Dario,” a resident of Tubungan, Iloilo, was ranked third in the region’s most wanted persons list and included in the Department of Interior and Local Government-Department of National Defense’s list of most wanted CTG personalities. A cash reward of P550,000 had been offered for information leading to his arrest.
The operation, conducted at around 12:55 p.m., was a joint effort led by the Tubungan Municipal Police Station, with the support of various law enforcement and military units including the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Intelligence Unit; Police Regional Office 6’s (PRO-6) Regional Intelligence Division and Regional Special Operations Group; Miag-ao Municipal Police Station; 1st Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company; Iloilo Police Intelligence Team; Iloilo Maritime Police Station; and the 61st Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division.
Dario was apprehended by virtue of multiple warrants of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court in Guimbal, Iloilo. These include warrants for robbery with serious physical injury, issued on September 16, 2019, with a bail of P180,000; attempted murder, issued on June 3, 2015, with a bail of P120,000; and frustrated murder, also issued on June 3, 2015, with a bail of P200,000.
“Let this serve as a warning to others who continue to hide — we will not relent. We will continue to pursue and bring to justice those who disrupt peace and security in our communities,” said PRO-6 director Brigadier General Josefino Ligan.
The suspect was detained for proper disposition and further legal proceedings./PN
