BACOLOD City – A sport utility vehicle (SUV) carrying a former couple figured in a road accident in front of the San Sebastian Cathedral here around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, July 18.
According to Major Elmer Bonilla, head of the Traffic Management Unit of the Bacolod City Police Office, alias “Adrian”, 30, was reportedly driving home his ex-girlfriend, alias “Donna”, when the two got into a heated argument inside the MG ZS subcompact crossover.
The altercation escalated into a physical struggle for control of the steering wheel, resulting in the driver losing control. The SUV veered off the road, crashed onto the gutter, and hit the railings.
The impact, Bonilla said, damaged portions of the cathedral’s perimeter railings, considered part of its vintage structure.
The individuals involved may be held liable for the cost of repairs to the damaged railings, he added.
Meanwhile, Donna was brought to the Riverside Medical Hospital after sustaining minor injuries. The driver was taken into custody by the Police Station 1 pending the filing of appropriate charges./PN
