RUFA Mae Quinto is in grief after her United States-based estranged husband Trevor Magallanes died due to an undisclosed reason.
Despite their separation, the actress-comedian looked back on their shared moments as a family with their daughter Athena, through Quinto’s Instagram page on Thursday, July 31.
“I’m deeply saddened by this development. Hope you give us time to mourn his loss especially my daughter,” Quinto said in the caption. “Just pray for us that we will get through this by the help of God!”
Quinto then noted that she and Magallanes’ family are still gathering factual information about his death.
“We kindly ask his friends or anyone to stop spreading fake news or mere speculations about his death,” she appealed. “I am flying tomorrow to the US with my daughter, so please wait for the official announcement surrounding his death from me and his family only and not from any other source.”
Addressing Magallanes, the actress concluded, “Hanggang sa huli…. Hanggang sa muli, Mahal kita Trev.” (Until the end. Until we meet again. I love you, Trev.)
Magallanes’ last known social media post was in May this year when he posted a short clip of his visit to the wind turbines of Oklahoma. In his video, the US-based businessman could be seen inside his black sedan sporting a longish haircut.
Quinto’s fellow celebrities including Jaya, Ogie Alcasid, Maxene Magalona, and Alessandra De Rossi offered prayers and condolences via the comments section.
Quinto and Magallanes made headlines in December 2024 after they confirmed their separation. The pair, who got married in 2016, did not expound on the reason behind their breakup.
However, prior to their confirmation, screenshots of their alleged conversations went viral on social media. The conversation included Quinto asking Magallanes to delete his “nega post” and appealing to him to “hear” her and to support Athena. The exchange also showed Magallanes accusing the actress of using Athena against him.
Despite this, Quinto underscored in a January 2025 interview that she does not regret her marriage with Magallanes. She also said that their divorce has yet to be processed at the time.
“At my age, I am no longer hoping to find someone new. He is the last man I’d love,” she said. “But if he already made up his mind [about the separation], I need to accept it.”
