79 suspects nabbed, P16.5-M ‘shabu’ seized in WV drug busts

ILOILO City — Seventy-nine suspects were arrested while more than P16.5 million worth of suspected shabu was confiscated in a series of anti-drug operations across Western Visayas from August 1 to 15.

The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) reported that the arrests included 26 high-value individuals (HVIs) and 53 street-level individuals (SLIs) during 60 operations throughout the region.

A total of 2,426.23 grams of suspected shabu valued at P16,498,364 and four grams of marijuana worth P480 were confiscated.

The Iloilo Police Provincial Office recorded the biggest haul with 1,102.03 grams of shabu worth P7.49 million in 16 operations. The Iloilo City Police Office followed with 717 grams worth P4.87 million in 29 operations, while the Capiz Police Provincial Office seized 238 grams valued at P1.61 million in seven operations.

Meanwhile, the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RPDEU-6) recovered 360 grams of shabu worth P2.44 million in two separate operations.

PRO-6 director Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan commended the relentless efforts of police units in pursuing drug suspects.

“Our operations reflect our unwavering commitment to safeguard communities from the threat of illegal drugs. The strong cooperation of our police units and the community has been instrumental in these accomplishments,” Ligan said.

He assured the public that PRO-6 will sustain its campaign for a drug-free Western Visayas through continuous operations and stronger partnerships with the community./PN
