BACOLOD City – The city government has set limited visiting hours in public cemeteries for the observance of Undas 2025.
City Administrator Atty. Mark Mayo said visiting hours at the city’s public cemeteries in Barangays Granada and Handumanan, as well as the North Public Cemetery (commonly known as Burgos Cemetery), will be regulated from October 31 to November 2.
Visitors will be allowed entry only from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the three-day period.
Aside from limiting visiting hours, the city government also prohibits the bringing of deadly weapons and liquor, as well as gambling activities inside cemetery premises.
“We set visiting hours to regulate the flow of people in public cemeteries, especially since these are located in highly populated areas. We expect a large number of visitors,” Mayo explained.
The guidelines were issued following the recommendations of the General Services Office (GSO), Philippine National Police (PNP), and other concerned offices during a coordination meeting last week.
Mayo also noted that some residents have already begun visiting the cemeteries ahead of the observance.
He added that private cemeteries in the city have their own regulations for the occasion.
The GSO is currently conducting clearing operations in public cemeteries in preparation for Undas. Meanwhile, the PNP and the Bacolod Traffic and Transport Management Department (BTTMD) will deploy personnel to ensure public safety and manage traffic flow in cemetery areas.
The city will also issue identification cards (IDs) to vendors who have secured special permits to operate during Undas. As of October 28, more than 150 vendors have already obtained their special permits./PN
