AFTER three years of anticipation and preparation, the PAREF Boys’ Schools reunited for the highly anticipated Vinta Cup 2025, hosted by PAREF Westbridge School in Iloilo City from November 15 to 17. The previous edition of the Vinta Cup was held in Cebu in which Westbridge was the overall champion, making this year’s gathering a long-awaited return for all participating schools.
This biennial event celebrated the spirit of brotherhood and competition among the four PAREF Boys’ Schools: PAREF Westbridge (Iloilo), PAREF Springdale (Cebu), PAREF Northfield (Antipolo), and PAREF Southridge (Muntinlupa).
The Vinta Cup gathered approximately 300 participants, including students, faculty, and staff, all united in the pursuit of excellence in academics, sports, and the arts. The event underscores the philosophy of single-gender education advocated by the Parents Education Foundation (PAREF), emphasizing academic balance alongside character development through extracurricular activities.
“Vinta Cup is a biennial gathering of all PAREF Boys’ Schools throughout the Philippines. These institutions are single-gender schools that adhere to the philosophy of single-gender education, which emphasizes the importance of balancing academic development with character formation through sports and extracurricular activities. The term ‘PAREF’ stands for Parents for Education Foundation, which underscores the notion that education takes place within children, with parents serving as the primary educators. This foundation recognizes parents as essential partners in the process of shaping their sons’ educational experiences,” stated Diego Mendoza III, Associate Director for Personal Formation of PAREF Westbridge School.
“This is not only an opportunity for us to showcase our academic and athletic strengths but also to foster real bonding among PAREF schools. It offers parents and students first-hand experiences of how each school approaches education,” Mendoza added.
The competition not only showcased athletic prowess but also emphasized values formation and leadership qualities among young men, preparing them for future endeavors in their communities and beyond.
