BACOLOD City— The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized approximately P2 million worth of suspected illegal drugs during a bust operation here on December 1 at around 2:04 p.m.
Two high-value suspects were arrested in the operation. The individuals were identified as alias Niño, 23, and alias Stephen, 21, both residents of Barangay Handumanan.
The operation, led by Lt. Col. Antonio Benitez, chief of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of BCPO, took place in Barangay Cabug. Authorities confiscated an estimated 300 grams of suspected shabu from the suspects.
The individuals are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The BCPO reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating illegal drugs and ensuring public safety through sustained intelligence-driven operations.
Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, regional director of Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO NIR), emphasized the importance of community collaboration in combating illegal drugs.
“Every tip, every act of vigilance strengthens our efforts. PRO NIR remains relentless, and hand in hand with the people, we will keep every neighborhood safe,” he said.
PRO NIR also urged the public to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities promptly, and coordinate closely with authorities to ensure a safer Negros Island Region./PN
