Bretman Rock admitted he does not like Vanessa Hudgens after a “disappointing” encounter they had at a Coachella event some years back.
The Filipino-American internet personality made this revelation during his guesting at “Sweet and Savory Podcast” hosted by Filipino-American couple Alyssa and AJ Rafael. The topic was brought up after the pair asked Bretman who is his “most disappointing celebrity encounter.”
Bretman initially only answered “VH,” the initials of the Filipino-American actress, but later outright named her.
“Vanessa Hudgens,” he said. “I don’t like her. Like, literally…”
Bretman recalled how the two of them met around 2017 or 2018 at Coachella as they were both tapped by a gummy vitamins brand as brand ambassadors.
He then narrated how he went to pick up his Coachella ticket at the brand’s house, where he saw the brand’s CEO talking to Hudgens.
“I was friends with the Sugar Bear Hair CEO because I’ve been to his house, we would talk, and I remembered her talking to him. Obviously, I was trying to get his attention, so I was waving at him—not at her (Hudgens), and she literally looks at me and tries to hide,” he recalled.
“I’m like, ‘First of all, I’m not saying hi to you. I was always Team Sharpay,’” he continued, referring to the antagonist character of the popular Disney musical film which has Hudgens as the main lead. “Second of all, you’re not even Mexican—you’re not. And third of all, b*tch, I’m not a fan.”
Bretman further recounted how when he was walking toward the CEO, the actress supposedly made her assistant stand in front of her to seemingly block her from him.
“You know how she has been dubbed as, like, ‘Coachella Queen’? I just still don’t give a f*ck,” Bretman said. “There’s no reason for you to be hiding or having to have your assistant hide you because the only ones here are the ones invited. Like, girl, we have the same rate [and] we’re getting the same pass.”
Apparently addressing Hudgens, he continued, “Girl, you’re not above me, I’m not under you… And I’m literally like, damn, I’m Filipino—you can’t even like your own people?”
Hudgens has yet to comment on Bretman’s revelation as of this writing.
Prior to this, there were also several instances in which Bretman appeared to have thrown shade at Hudgens, including when he pointed out her failed attempts to correctly pronounce “Palawan” despite being the global tourism ambassador for the Philippines in 2023.
