ANTIQUE – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in San Jose de Buenavista town kicked off on Wednesday, January 21, its satellite voter registration for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

San Jose de Buenavista Municipal Election Officer III Johnna Catilo said in an interview that the satellite registration at the Robinsons Place will run until January 29, after which it will move to the municipality’s 28 barangays.

“We want to reach out to as many voters for their registration so they can participate in the BSKE 2026,” Catilo said.

She said their first three clients were two new voters for the SK election and one was for reactivation.

“The one who came for reactivation of his voter registration was not able to participate in the last two elections,” she added.

Rhes Lhey Gahap said that he intends to run as SK councilor in November, so he took the opportunity to avail of the satellite registration.

“I am planning to run in the SK election so I can also help improve our barangay,” he said.

The local Comelec office will tap barangay captains in disseminating information about the satellite registration among their constituents.

“Even if they prefer a weekend or holiday for the satellite registration, we will conduct it, provided they could help us gather a number of people who would be interested to avail of the registration,” Catilo said. (PNA)
