DEREK Ramsay declared that despite the recent changes in his life — including his separation from his estranged wife Ellen Adarna — he is at peace and is focusing on becoming stronger for himself and his family.
The actor opened up about his recent endeavors during an interview with Morly Alinio, as seen on the latter’s YouTube channel last Saturday, Jan. 24.
“I’m at peace. Hindi na ako mukhang haggard. Bumalik na ‘yung katawan ko at bumalik na ‘yung focus ko to take care of myself again,” Ramsay said.
“Ang dami kong pinagdadaanan so pinili ko na lang kung ano ‘yung kailangan ko—maging super strong para sa daddy ko, sa mommy ko,” he stated, disclosing his father’s stage 4 prostate cancer diagnosis.
Ramsay admitted his worries as his parents are no longer as strong as they used to be, noting that he is spending time with them as much as he can.
Ramsay then spoke about his return to show business through “The Kingdom” series, confessing he did not see himself making a comeback after getting married to Adarna.
“Talagang ayoko na [bumalik]. I was very happy [for] six years,” he said. “Sabi ko naman sa inyo, ‘pag nagpakasal ako, do’n na ‘yung focus ko… That was an easy decision for me to make.”
“Mahal ko ‘yung craft ko but I was so excited for this chapter of my life and super content na ako. And then, like I said, life can change so quickly overnight,” he said. “[We] faced a very difficult storm, and then binigyan ako ni Lord ng blessing na isa pang project. I just took it as a sign that I should take it.”
Ramsay said he was nervous during the media conference for the project but eventually got the hang of it anew.
During the interview, the actor was also asked about the recent controversies that hounded him, which included accusations of cheating and gaslighting from Adarna. His answers, however, will be featured in the second part of the vlog which has yet to be aired as of this writing.
Ramsay and Adarna’s separation was confirmed last November, with the actress showing “receipts” of her cheating allegations against the former. The former couple has a daughter named Liana. (Anne Pasajol © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
