BACOLOD City — The cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect in the killing of a nine-year-old girl and the serious injury of her two siblings in Silay City, Negros Occidental, has been raised to P100,000 as authorities intensify efforts to solve the case.
Silay City Mayor Joedith Gallego initially offered P25,000 for credible information on the suspect. This was later augmented by P50,000 from Negros Occidental Third District Representative Javi Benitez, and an additional P25,000 from former Talisay City Vice Mayor Samuel “Sam” Siote, bringing the total reward to P100,000.
Police said the nine-year-old girl died, while her siblings—a 14-year-old girl and a four-year-old boy—sustained serious injuries and were hospitalized after they were allegedly struck with stones inside their home at Hacienda Badiang, Barangay E. Lopez, on February 7.
The Silay City Police Station continues its case build-up and manhunt operations to identify and apprehend the suspect.
The Negros Occidental provincial government is also preparing to extend assistance to the victims’ family.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said provincial authorities are coordinating with the children’s mother, who had been working as a domestic helper in Saudi Arabia and has since returned to the Philippines.
Lacson condemned the attack, saying the entire province denounces the violent act against the children. He added that he has directed police authorities to ensure the immediate arrest of the perpetrator.
Authorities have urged the public to report any information that could help locate the suspect.
