BACOLOD City — The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) reported significant gains in its latest Simultaneous Anti-Criminality and Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO), highlighting intensified efforts to curb criminality and strengthen public safety across the region.
From February 4 to 14, various police units conducted 339 synchronized operations targeting wanted persons, illegal drugs, loose firearms, and illegal gambling.
The campaign forms part of the broader law enforcement thrust of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to sustain swift and decisive action against criminal activities.
Under its drive against fugitives, PRO-NIR carried out 134 operations that led to the arrest of 134 wanted persons. Of those apprehended, 37 were classified as most wanted persons, while 97 were listed as other wanted persons. Police officials said the arrests reflect strengthened intelligence coordination and tracking capabilities, sending a clear message that fugitives cannot evade the law.
In the campaign against illegal drugs, the regional police office conducted 78 operations, resulting in the arrest of 83 drug personalities. Authorities seized approximately 625.9 grams of suspected shabu valued at P4,249,320. Police described the operations as a major disruption to local drug supply chains and part of efforts to dismantle drug networks operating within communities.
PRO-NIR also intensified its campaign against loose firearms, conducting 88 operations that led to the arrest of 20 individuals. Police confiscated 20 unlicensed firearms, recovered five explosives, and recorded the voluntary surrender of 64 firearms.
In its crackdown on illegal gambling, police carried out 39 operations, resulting in the arrest of 104 individuals and the confiscation of P18,097 in bet money.
PRO-NIR said the successful implementation of SACLEO underscores its continued shift toward intelligence-driven, coordinated, and region-wide operations designed to produce measurable results.
The regional police office reaffirmed its commitment to intensify law enforcement efforts and strengthen partnerships with local government units and communities to ensure lasting peace and security across Negros Island./PN
