BACOLOD City — A suspected robbery hold-upper and alleged gun-for-hire was arrested by police in this city on March 18.
The suspect, known by the alias “Pocholo,” was apprehended in a joint operation conducted by Police Station 3 (PS3) and the Bacolod City Police Office’s (BCPO) Intelligence Unit.
Authorities identified the suspect as a key figure behind a series of robbery incidents across the city.
Police reports said his modus operandi involved befriending victims through online chat platforms before staging a hold-up using an undetermined caliber of firearm.
Investigators added that the suspect has been linked to multiple robbery cases and was also reportedly involved in a recent shooting incident within the jurisdiction of PS3.
The arrest was carried out by personnel led by Police Captain Rosalino Pugoy Jr., PS3 commander, in coordination with the BCPO Intelligence Unit headed by Police Lieutenant Colonel Albert Sy.
The operation was implemented by virtue of an existing warrant of arrest for violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The warrant was issued by Judge Therese Blanche A. Bolunia of Branch 47, Regional Trial Court in Bacolod City, following the revocation of the suspect’s probation.
Police officials expressed confidence that the arrest would significantly improve peace and order, particularly in Barangay Banago and nearby areas affected by robbery incidents.
“With the apprehension of this individual, we anticipate a substantial reduction in robbery cases and related criminal activities,” the BCPO said in a statement.
The city police, under the leadership of Police Colonel Eugene N. Rebadomia, officer-in-charge of BCPO, reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations against criminal elements, especially those involved in violent crimes and illegal drug activities.
