ILOILO — A joint anti-illegal drugs operation in Barangay Tabugon, Dingle, Iloilo resulted in the arrest of a barangay tanod and a welder, yielding approximately 140 grams of suspected shabu valued at P952,000.
The operation, conducted around 5 p.m. on Monday, May 4, was a collaborative effort between the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s (IPPO) Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) Team 2 and Provincial Intelligence Unit, and the Dingle Municipal Police Station.
Police identified the suspects as alias “Toto,” a barangay tanod classified as a high-value target, and alias “Nonoy,” a welder tagged as a street-level individual. Both are residents of the said barangay.
Police recovered seven plastic sachets of suspected shabu, buy-bust money, and non-drug-related items.
“This operation shows our firm commitment to keep our communities safe from the dangers of illegal drugs,” said Police Regional Office 6 director Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan. “We will continue to pursue those involved, no matter who they are or what their status in life may be. This serves as a clear warning, sooner or later, the law will catch up with anyone who chooses to engage in this illegal activity.”
