ILOILO City – Approximately P1.5 million worth of suspected shabu and a firearm were recovered from a 46-year-old man in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district.
Alias “JR,” a resident of the said place, was collared around 6:20 p.m. on Monday, May 18. Police classified him as a high-value target.
Operatives of the Iloilo City Police Office’s (ICPO) City Drug Enforcement confiscated 15 plastic sachets and two transparent plastic bags of alleged shabu weighing around 220 grams and an unlicensed caliber .38 revolver with four rounds of live ammunition.
The suspect was detained at the Iloilo City Police Station 10, facing charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
ICPO data shows that from May 1 to 15, the police office has seized a total of P5.4 million worth of suspected shabu, weighing approximately 794 grams, across 28 anti-drug operations. These operations also led to the arrest of 35 drug personalities.
Police Colonel Wilbert Parilla, ICPO director, emphasized that strong community support played a significant role in the success of their anti-criminality campaigns.
“This accomplishment reflects the importance of a strong community partnership. Rest assured that we will not relent in our campaign against illegal drugs and loose firearms. With the continued support of the community, we will achieve our goal of a safer and more secure Iloilo City,” Parilla said./PN
