ILOILO — The second most wanted person in Iloilo province was arrested by police during a manhunt operation in Barangay Poblacion, Anilao town on Thursday, May 28.
The 30-year-old suspect identified as alias “JP,” a laborer and resident of Barangay Badiang, Anilao, was caught by the tracker team of the Anilao Municipal Police Station (MPS).
Police said the suspect is facing three counts of statutory rape by carnal knowledge under Article 266-A, Paragraph 1, in relation to Article 266-B of the Revised Penal Code.
The arrest was carried out by virtue of a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 70 in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo dated May 11, 2026. No bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the accused.
Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) acting director Brigadier General Randulf T. Tuaño lauded the personnel of Anilao MPS for the successful arrest.
“These are serious charges, and the arrest of this wanted individual demonstrates the steadfast commitment of our personnel to pursue those who are sought by the law,” Tuaño said. “Let this serve as a strong reminder to all wanted persons that PRO-6 will not stop until they are arrested and made to answer before the law.”
Tuaño also underscored the importance of public cooperation in maintaining peace and order.
“The safety and security of our communities are a shared responsibility. We urge the public to continue working with the police by providing timely and relevant information that will help in locating wanted persons and ensuring justice for victims,” he said.
The suspect is currently under the custody of the Anilao MPS pending proper disposition of the case.
PRO-6 added that it will continue intensifying manhunt operations against wanted persons across Western Visayas as part of its campaign for responsive and effective law enforcement./PN
