BACOLOD City – Operatives of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized more than P1.4 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested a female drug suspect during a buy-bust operation in Barangay 27 on June 15.
The operation, conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) with the support of the City Intelligence Unit (CIU) and Police Station 4, resulted in the arrest of alias “Sapsap,” 52, a resident of Purok Star Apple 2 in the said barangay.
Authorities confiscated approximately 210 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P1,428,000, marked money, and non-drug evidence.
Police said the suspect had been placed under surveillance following reports of her alleged involvement in the distribution of illegal drugs in Barangay 27 and nearby areas.
Investigators also learned that she had previously been arrested for violating the Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, but was released from detention earlier this month, according to a statement from the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR).
The suspect was apprehended after allegedly agreeing to sell suspected shabu to an undercover police operative during the operation.
She is currently under the custody of Police Station 4 while charges for violations of Sections 5 (sale of illegal drugs) and 11 (possession of illegal drugs), Article II of RA 9165, are being prepared for filing.
