ILOILO City – Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) recovered 64 firearms and 15 explosives across Western Visayas in a single day as part of its ongoing campaign against loose firearms.
In a report covering July 25 to July 26, PRO-6 revealed that 73 separate police operations resulted in the voluntary surrender of 58 firearms and 15 explosives, while six additional guns were deposited under the Amended Firearms and Explosives Registration (ADFER) Program.
Police Brigadier General Randulf T. Tuaño, acting regional director of PRO-6, lauded the public’s cooperation, emphasizing that removing unauthorized weapons from the streets is essential to preventing crime and maintaining regional peace.
“Ang bawat baril at eksplosibong boluntaryong naisasailalim sa kustodiya ng pamahalaan ay isang hakbang tungo sa mas ligtas na komunidad,” Tuaño stated. “Patuloy nating hinihikayat ang publiko na makiisa sa ating kampanya sa pamamagitan ng pagsuko o legal na pagdedeposito ng mga hindi awtorisadong baril.”
PRO-6 reaffirmed its commitment to intelligence-driven operations, strict monitoring, and sustained coordination with local government units and communities.
The regional police force also urged the public to immediately report any information regarding illegal possession, carrying, or use of firearms and explosives to the nearest police station or via emergency hotline 911./PN
