ILOILO — Police arrested a barangay tanod classified as a high-value individual and seized approximately 70 grams of suspected shabu valued at P476,000 during a joint buy-bust operation in Barangay Sulangan, Dumangas town.
The suspect identified by his alias “Talamor,” 52, serves as Sulangan’s chief tanod.
The operation was carried out at around 6:50 p.m. on September 12 by operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Drug Enforcement Group’s (PDEG) Special Operations Unit 6, led by officer-in-charge Police Col. Roel L. Lami-ing, in coordination with the Maritime Police Station, Dumangas Municipal Police Station (MPS), and the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group-Visayas Field Unit.
Aside from the suspected illegal drugs, operating units also recovered non-drug evidence during the sting.
The suspect was brought to the Dumangas MPS for documentation and proper disposition while the seized drug evidence was turned over to the Regional Forensic Unit 6 for laboratory analysis.
The suspect faces charges for violating Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
